Klipsch RP 8000F Burnt up Tweeter and Teardown
An amplifier failed and pumped some DC current into this tweeter and it caused something I’ve not seen before. The amount of heat there had to be is crazy. These Klipsch drivers generally hold up well but this was definitely caused by an amplifier failure, not poor speaker design. I had an extra one at the house and decided to tear it down to get a better look inside. I wanted to do this with the melted in but didn’t think it was going to come apart easily.
