As a beginner or intermediate guitar player in India, these questions come across us quite frequently. The confusion is very valid as there are very little resources to clear this doubt. Hence, we tried to make a brief video about this focusing on the sound difference. Another factor we did not mention in the video is the fact that solid top sound matures over a period of time. Well the reason we did not mention that is because how it matures is not something we can put a finger on. When a guitarist is buying a guitar in India, the initial sound is what he is checking and that is what the video is about.
As our conclusion (if the budget allows), its always good to go for a solid top guitar. In contrast to this, do not fall for very cheap solid tops under 15k as they often end up worse than laminate top guitars.
