How to increase or setup your Page file?
A question that is asked many times by people who don't know how to either setup or increase their page file (aka 'virtual memory). So what is a page file? Well, in the old days, when computer ram was still at a premium Windows had (and still has) this feature of turning a bit of your storage device into 'ram'. In the 90s, when your pc had just 4MB of ram, no joke I had such a machine, you could add several MB's of your hard drive space to give it more ram. But the downside was that traditional hard drives were VERY slow. And hence you always heard people saying, "My computer is constantly rattling even when I am not using it". That was because the computer was busy keeping the Operating system (Windows) running, and if the pc did not had not enough ram it put it's small files in the page file. Those files were read and deleted constantly in and out of the page file causing the 'rattle'. Now these days a page file is practically not so much needed anymore. Nevertheless there are still programs and games that simply want it. The biggest example I know is the game Cities: Skylines. This game eats ram, and needs gobs of page file to run. So in this video you can just follow the way where I go, pause the video, or slide back to check it again and set your page file to your desired amount. For your computer's sake, don't use a physical hard drive for as page file. Rather spend 20 euro's/dollars on a 120/240GB Kingston/Adata sata ssd and put it on there.
