In this video, I will show you how to remove breaths from a vocal take. Even though breathing is necessary when an artist is recording, it doesn't always sound good when recorded. By identifying each breath and turning it down, the vocal will sound significantly cleaner and easier to listen to.
First you must identify where the breaths are in each vocal take. Once you do that, you clip each breath so you can make them quieter. I typically reduce the volume of each breath and leave it in the take so the vocal still sounds human. After I clip and reduce the volume, I crossfade each clip so the transitions are not abrupt.
