Securing Global Communications: Introducing QUBE
Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) allows two parties to securely communicate with each other without allowing anyone to eavesdrop.
Our cube satellite QUBE is a small research satellite testing technology towards global QKD. In this video, we introduce the satellite as well as the quantum payload from LMU and MCQST.
About QUBE
For the first time, the research satellite QUBE will test newly developed quantum communication technologies using a very small satellite in space. The objective is to support secure, worldwide data transmission in the future.
QUBE is a joint project with OHB GmbH, DLR, LMU Munich and the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Light. In this collaboration, advanced quantum technologies are combined with powerful optical communication systems and integrated into an innovative CubeSat system.
