In this video I am adding 500 users to the exchange 2019 server that I installed in the previous video. The script file and commands are contained in a zip file that can be downloaded from the page for this video, on the macpczone.co.uk website. I have only used 500 users because Microsoft Exchange is very slow when it comes to loading the users via powershell or the exchange management shell as it is officially called, which just seems to be a normal thing for Microsoft, almost as if they slow down the OS on purpose, so that IT people will always take longer and be able to charge for more time, when they are working on a server or PC that is running a Microsoft operating system and services. It seems that this slowdown started with Windows Vista, which seemed to be a kernel rewrite that was programmed to use up more memory, but the rest of the system seemed to also have been bloated up, so that the speed increase would be wiped out. Windows 7 improved things a little bit, but exchange was still slow and i think Exchange 2010 took almost an hour to install, which was a lot longer than the much older and crustier versions.
One thing I like about email systems that store their users in MySQL, is that you can load the users in a record time, because all you are doing is importing a sql file, while Microsoft have opted to still keep their bloatware exchange storage system, which they seem to not be able to speed up and this then leads to slow import times. You would think that Microsoft would be able to come up with a new information store that is a lot faster than it currently is, by spending some of the billions that they have on some serious programmers, but it looks as if they prefer to stick with the current bloatware system that helps to slow down the email systems of the world.
