Toxic people are those who, instead of bringing comfort and support to a relationship, often cause anxiety, discomfort, and stress. These people may unconsciously or consciously, for various reasons such as fear of abandonment, a need to control others, or a lack of self-esteem, exhibit behaviors that are harmful to their romantic partner.
In romantic relationships, toxic people often use methods such as constant criticism, ignoring the other person's needs, or creating guilt to control and dominate the relationship. They may appear kind and loving on the outside, but deep down, they take advantage of every opportunity to reduce their partner's self-confidence and independence. These behaviors can, over time, cause a loss of happiness and satisfaction in the relationship and even lead to more serious psychological problems such as depression or anxiety in the other person.
It is important to pay attention to the signs and symptoms of toxic people in relationships and, if you identify them, consider solutions to protect your mental health. These solutions may include consulting a psychologist, setting clear boundaries in the relationship, or, if necessary, ending the relationship. Remember that no relationship is worth damaging your mental health. Choosing a romantic partner should be based on mutual respect, support, and shared growth, not on the need for control and dominance.
