we bought a couple 6 packs of can budweisers from the last deli on manhattan ave. I'm tempted to buy the dominican cookies in the jar but the last one i bought had tamarind in it and i hate tamarind. as we approach the fenced up construction lot at the end of the parking lot, a bent fence pole creates an obtuse gap enough for one derel at a time.they'd been trying to clean up this nook to build some public frolic park. The slapping of a cable on hollow metal is audible. Low hanging branches give way to a reaching swaying mast as the captain disappears and reappears from the cabin.
soon therafter the bonnie jeane's motor rumbles to life and she slithers out into the the thruway, rocking wakes of circle line and sea streak, or an occasional booze cruise.. pathetic. we keep it land on the water and stay motoring.
we ain't no damn sailors!
... grilling on the frying pan attachment that slots into the deep sea pole holder, some polish butcher special with some rye and the good mustard. After the fourth beer my ears conform to my grin and it is a perfect moment in time. The perfect time of the season, when summer's surplus of sunny days are spent and we are forced to reconcile that the days we have to be aimless are fleeting. we have reconciled well.
...can you imagine sitting on the fdr right now waiting for the friday evening gw traffic to push through? suckers!
