10/10 - We made it peeps! The final video of the '10 vids in 10 days' series!
I tried to do something a little special for this one...
I have been jamming along to a few of Kazs' drum-less tracks for a while now. They're so fun to just let loose over! I probably picked one of his harder songs to play but I was up for the challenge. Theres some rad slap bass and a few odd time signatures in this piece, which was cool to write parts for. Although there's lots of room to just 'shed' over this piece, I tried to make the parts more musical, to sit with the music. Theres gonna be some of that to come in future though and most likely another Kaz play along.
I did end up doing a couple of drop ins with this video. It proved hard to memorise everything and get it all in a solid take, plus I was able to approach this more like a studio scenario, having a drum-less track. To be honest, though....I still don't feel I'm giving my full potential on the kit (recently). I have been battling back and neck issues for a while now and it can make things pretty frustrating (and painful) at times. Looking to start treatment next week, though. Hopefully that doesn't include a break from drumming but it might be a necessary move to start healing. We'll see how we go, but I'm hopeful it won't come to that!
