Video call sex crimes (VCS) continue to occur due to several interrelated factors, including:

1. Online Anonymity: The internet provides anonymity to perpetrators, making it easier for them to manipulate or deceive victims without fear of being directly tracked. They can use fake identities or anonymous accounts.

2. Lack of Digital Education: Many people do not fully understand the security and privacy risks in cyberspace, making them more vulnerable to fraud or exploitation. Education regarding digital ethics, security, and the impact of actions such as sharing sensitive content online remains limited.

3. Sextortion: One of the main motives behind VCS crimes is blackmail, in which perpetrators threaten to release sensitive content if the victim does not pay a ransom or comply with their demands. This is a common form of exploitation.

4. Technological Advances: Advances in communication technology, such as video chat applications and social media, facilitate long-distance interactions, including private interactions. This provides opportunities for perpetrators to approach and manipulate victims.

5. Inadequate Law Enforcement: Cybercrime is often more difficult to track and stop because it involves international networks. Existing regulations may be inadequate or ineffectively enforced.

6. Psychological and Emotional Exploitation: VCS perpetrators often exploit victims' psychological or emotional vulnerabilities. For example, perpetrators can build a relationship of trust with victims before exploiting them.

7. Financial Gain: Some perpetrators commit these crimes for financial gain, blackmailing victims with threats of sharing sensitive content.

This crime persists due to a combination of weaknesses in technology, education, and regulations, as well as the perpetrators' motivation to exploit the situation.
