When you have wind or hail damage on your roof it can be a headache going through the insurance process. So in this video we break down the entire process from start to finish in 5 stages.
If we miss anything or have any questions leave a comment down below.
Stage 1 | Notice Storm Damage
-As soon as you notice hail damage or your shingles gone due to the wind, take pictures and document everything. Go on google/Facebook and look for a local roofing company with an online presence, reviews, credentials, etc.
Stage 2 | Roof Inspection
-The roofing company you called will come out to do a full inspection. If storm damage is found they will explain the rest of the process and talk about their company. They might make you sign a contingent contract. No matter what contractor you choose you will pay the same your deductible.
Stage 3 | Insurance Claim
-You will need to call your insurance for them to send out an adjuster to look at the damage and do a report. It is best to have your roofer come out the same time as the adjuster.
Stage 4 | Scope of Work
-If your insurance company accepts your claim they will send out a packet with your insurance information, a report of the damage, and an itemized list of all the material and work authorized. It is best to overlook this with your contractor to ensure everything is included and is up to building codes.
Stage 5 | Roof Replacement
-Your insurance company will send you a first check as a deposit.Your roofer will set up a date for the job. After the job is completed with your satisfaction they will take pictures and send a final invoice along with any other documents your insurance requires. After that your insurance will release the last check for you to pay your roofer.
