Stacked column charts are often used to graphically illustrate parts of a sum. However, what stacked columns lack is the ability to display their sum—for example, above the columns. You can work around this with a simple trick: include an additional section of the column that represents the sum of all the individual columns. Then, convert this section of the stacked column into a line that you can label with values. Finally, delete the line as needed.
