After heavy use, harmonica reeds can develop micro fractures and the pitch drops dramatically. They go flat. If re-tuning them doesn't bring the pitch back up, the reed is "blown."
Blows reeds can be replaced. You can do this. And once you master it, it's a whole new ballgame!
