I had six poles to set in concrete. I wanted them all the same height, square and plumb. Here’s how I did it.
Drive stakes into the ground at each corner.
Run a string line to each stake.
Level out the string line with a string level.
Dig down the same depth measuring from the string line.
Pour in a bag of gravel into each hole.
Place a brick into the gravel to prevent the pipe from being pushed lower then gravel.
Check that each hole is the same depth measuring from the string line.
Mix and dump the concrete one hole at a time.
Place the pole and use a pole level to make it plumb.
Hold the pole in place with bracing until it sets.
