Gabrieli Sonata XIII a8
This video represents some of the incredible alumni students we have had the pleasure of working with at the Spectrum Brass Seminar since its inception in 2012. You can see the years that each one of them attended the Seminar next to their names listed above, as well as where they are currently living. This project began with the help of Akshat Jain and Dallas Long, two young men who have both attended our seminar 3 times, and who I am very proud to call my friends. Together, we brainstormed and decided to record music by Giovanni Gabrieli with St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, Italy as our backdrop and sound concept. The double choir Sonata XIII allowed us to experiment with the antiphonal quality of Gabrieli's music, both acoustically and visually. The result is a testimony to the talent and character of these wonderful young musicians and their desire to come together to make music during a time of social distancing. We hope you enjoy watching this video as much as we have enjoyed creating it!!
