In this very first episode of my youtube vlog I dive right into a beautiful niche of digital photography: Infrared photography!
Today I am showing you how to take beautiful infrared images simply by screwing an IR filter on to your lens.
And the best thing: These filters are not hard to find, just get one from amazon for a few bucks!
This is the filter I use in the video above: https://goo.gl/n6VZMc
Or, if you want to invest into a higher end piece of glass, check out this one https://goo.gl/nMcin2
I always recommend the 720nm filters, because they are the ones that let the most light pass and still give you true infrared (the visible light spectrum end at around 700nm).
Also make sure you have a solid tripod for your long exposures, I have been superhappy with the 66" travel tripod by Neewer: https://goo.gl/JP4UAo which I will review sometime soon...
I hope you found the video helpful!
For more details check out my blog post on tumblr as well: https://goo.gl/2Pp6Bq
Also check out part 2 here: • Editing Infrared Photos in Photoshop In htat video I teach you how to post process your IR photos.
I will see you soon in a new fun tutorial... 'till then stay creative and keep shooting!
Cheers!
