Flying from VN to US during lockdown | VLog | 2021
vlog. flying out of HCM, Vietnam during lockdown.
INFO:
1. You do not need to be vaccinated flying out (I am fully vaccinated in this vlog). They didn’t even ask or check. However you do need to be vaccinated coming back to VN (if you plan to).
2. You do need a RT_PCR test 72 hours prior to take off/ flight time. Get the paper version as well has the digital/ QR results. They were inconsistent with accepting digital/ paper versions. For instance, FV digital copy was accepted because it has a digital logo/ stamp on it, no need for signed physical copy/paper. But another hospital (minh tam?)— QR link and digital version, not accepted because their digital template does not have an official stamp/ fancy logo... Get the signed paper results just in case, in addition to the digital/ email/ QR results. I think it depends on the airline.
3. Saw some people paid for their visas overstay at custom. and one wasn’t able to.. not sure why.
4. Airport was empty in sept 2021, had only 1 flight that morning. Not sure about now—oct 20, 2021).
5. NRT was busy.
6. It was difficult to get a taxi to the airport then.. but should be easier now as lockdown is lifted.
7. Flight to the US was a breeze.. (but coming back to VN was a longer and more troublesome journey bc of the paperwork and quarantine).
