To make a road cross section in **Civil 3D**, follow these steps:

Step 1: Prepare Alignment and Profile
Before creating cross sections, ensure you have:
1. **Alignment**: Create or import the road centerline.
2. **Profile**: Design or import the road profile.

Step 2: Create an Assembly (Road Template)
1. Go to the *Home* tab and find the *Create Design* panel.
2. Click on *Assembly* to create a new road template.
3. Use the *Assembly tools* (like lanes, curbs, shoulders) to build the typical road cross section.
You can add different subassemblies from the *Tool Palettes* for lanes, medians, slopes, etc.

Step 3: Create a Corridor
1. *Corridor* combines the alignment, profile, and assembly to generate the 3D road model.
2. Go to *Home* tab, then select *Corridor* from the *Create Design* panel.
3. Select your alignment, profile, and assembly.
4. Define the corridor's extents by setting the station range for the road.

Step 4: Sample Line Creation (Cross Section Sampling)
1. Go to the *Home* tab and find the *Profile & Section Views* panel.
2. Click on *Sample Lines* and select your alignment.
3. Define the location of cross section cut points along the alignment.
You can use a fixed interval, manually define stations, or select key locations like major design points.

Step 5: Generate Cross Section Views
1. After creating the sample lines, go to the *Home* tab.
2. Under the *Profile & Section Views* panel, click *Section Views* and select **Create Multiple Views**.
3. Follow the wizard to define the view style and layout for displaying the cross sections.
4. Choose the sample line group (the one you created in Step 4), and Civil 3D will generate the cross section views along the road alignment.

Step 6: Customize Cross Sections
1. You can further customize the cross sections by adding:
Labels (e.g., station labels, elevation markers).
Additional features like utilities or grading.
2. Use the *Section View Editor* for additional fine-tuning.
