BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) as a policy is sound on paper: instead of the company spending money providing their employees with devices, the employees are instead encouraged to bring their own personal devices to use in a professional capacity. However, the risks to adopting this kind of policy far outweigh its benefits, as data breaches proliferate, with a high percentage of them caused by negligent information handling by employees.
