Walvis Bay dock seals truly enjoy a wonderful lifestyle—they feast on leftovers from nearby fishing factories and spend the rest of their time bathing in the sun, minding their own business. This would be a perfect arrangement if not for the omnipresent risk of entanglement caused by their proximity to the fishing operations. These seals often get caught in packing straps used to secure bait boxes. If fishermen made an effort to cut these loops, entanglements in the harbor would be greatly minimized.
