FOR & SINCE - COMMON MISTAKES- English Speaking Lesson
Even after understanding the difference between "FOR" and "SINCE", a number of students get confused with it and end up making mistakes especially while speaking in English .
There are two common mistakes which students normally make :-
( 1) Students always seem to opt for "SINCE" by default.
For example -
I have been living in Tokyo since two months.
OR
I have been living in Tokyo for two months.
Which of the above mentioned sentences is correct?
(2) Students mistakenly use " SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE" in place of "PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE" (both while writing and speaking in English).
OR
Students mistakenly use "SIMPLE PAST TENSE" in place of "PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE" (both while writing and speaking in English).
For Example --
I am waiting since 9 am .
OR
I have been waiting since 9 am .
