🔥 Building the Langri: A Step-by-Step Guide
1. Selecting the Location
Choose a flat, stable area away from flammable materials. Ensure there’s adequate space for building and safe operation.
2. Gathering Materials
• Stones: Large, flat stones for the base and capstone; smaller stones for walls.
• Clay and Sand: Used as mortar to bind stones and fill gaps.
• Tools: Shovel, trowel, level, and protective gloves.
3. Constructing the Base
• Lay large, flat stones to create a sturdy foundation.
• Ensure the base is level to support the oven’s weight.
4. Building the Firebox
• Stack stones in a U-shape to form the firebox, leaving an opening at the front.
• Use the clay-sand mixture as mortar between stones.
• Build up to a height of 8 to 16 inches.
5. Installing the Ledge Stone
• Place a large, flat stone across the top of the U-shaped walls to act as a ledge.
• Leave a 4-inch gap between the ledge stone and the back wall to allow heat and smoke to circulate.
6. Constructing the Oven Chamber
• Build additional stone walls on top of the ledge stone to form the oven chamber.
• These walls should be at least 5 inches high.
• Ensure the chamber is enclosed, with an opening at the front for accessing food.
7. Placing the Capstone
• Place a large, flat stone over the oven chamber to serve as the roof.
• Ensure it covers all walls and seals the chamber.
8. Finishing Touches
• Cover the entire structure with a thick layer of clay or soil to seal any cracks and provide insulation.
• Allow the oven to dry completely before use.
• Gradually cure the oven by building small fires over several days to prevent cracking.

🍞 Cooking with Your Langri
Once cured, your Langri is ready for cooking. Light a fire in the firebox and allow the oven to heat up. The heat retained in the stones provides an even cooking temperature, ideal for baking bread, roasting meats, or cooking traditional dishes.
