Home movie footage of our trip from Los Angeles to Portland this summer on the Amtrak Coast Starlight Express.
When the conductor saw my super 8 camera he was overcome with joy. He said that his Amtrak trips look like super 8 footage in his dreams.
This video shows what it's like travelling on Amtrak's Coast Starlight Express. The first few hours of the trip, we had great views out the window of the ocean coastline through Ventura and Santa Barbara. There was a great viewing train with huge windows spanning up to the ceiling that I captured in this footage. We got a private roommette which felt very safe and secure. We had a personal attendant who helped us with any meals or accomidations. It was a fun and scenic trip lounging on the train.
Towards the end of the footage, you can see us hiking around Washington. Right when we got off the Amtrak, this super 8 footage was taken in our temporary backyard.
