... Do not let your souls desire you, for you have become arrogant. So a group [of them] you have denied, and a group you have killed. (87)
And they said, “Our hearts are wrapped [in coverings].” Rather, Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so little do they believe. (88)
And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming what was with them - and they used to seek victory before over those who disbelieved - but when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it. So the curse of Allah is upon the disbelievers. (89)
How wretched is that for which they have sold themselves - that they would disbelieve in what Allah has revealed, out of envy that Allah should send down His bounty upon whom He wills of His servants. So they have earned wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment. (90)
And when it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah has revealed," they say, "We believe in what was revealed to us." And they disbelieve in what is beyond it, while it is the truth confirming what they have. Say, "Then why did you kill the prophets of God before, if you were believers?" (91) And Moses had already come to you with clear proofs. Then you took the calf [for worship] after him, while you were wrongdoers. (92) And [remember] when We took your covenant and raised the mountain above you, [saying], "Take what We have given you with determination." And listen! They said, “We have heard and disobeyed.” And they were made to drink [the love of] the calf into their hearts because of their disbelief. Say, “How evil is that which your faith enjoins upon you, if you are believers!” (93)
