(Scratch) Music with a message!
This is my track ‘How To Respond’, performed in Downtown LA at the Serato Studio when I was out in the States promoting my LP ‘The Point Of Contact’ in 2016. The track marks a point midway in the narrative arc of my album which speaks on a very contemplative time during an extremely challenging period of my life. Buddhist philosophy and practice has helped me immensely over the past decade or so to maintain balance, mental resilience and a realistic yet positive framing of life’s more challenging moments. The end vocal was sampled from one such dharma talk by a Buddhist teacher. My gateway to some of these ideas was initially Alan Watts (who I’m sure we’ve all heard sampled into tracks over the years) and I'm a huge fan of Thich Nhat Hanh, but I still read and study widely. I’m interested to know which books, speakers, philosophers, wisdom traditions etc you have found helpful in your life? Feel free to post links 🙏🏻
