🚘 The Gambler 500 is a car rally and trash cleanup on public lands in Oregon 🗑️
Ricky Denning’s battered truck rumbles along the rugged dirt roads of the Umatilla National Forest. As the co-founder of the OSO (Other Side of Oregon) Gambler 500, he’s no stranger to the challenges of navigating the remote landscapes of eastern Oregon. 🚗
The annual OSO is just one of many Gambler events that take place across Oregon and throughout the United States. These “Gambler” rallies have become one of the world’s largest grassroots trail cleanup movements. At this year’s OSO, participants managed to fill an entire dumpster with trash. And at the Redmond Gambler, it’s not uncommon to see 10 or more dumpsters overflowing with debris they’ve cleared from trails and roadsides.
