In the 31st Millennium, during the Great Crusade, the Blood Angels first encountered a world where they discovered a race of arthropod xenos called the Megarachnids. The planet was later nicknamed "Killer World."
The Megarachnid warriors stood three meters tall and had eight limbs. They moved with astonishing speed on their lower four limbs, while their upper four limbs were used as weapons. Every part of the Megarachnids' bodies was heavily protected by flexible, almost fibrous, gray armor.
The Xenos were also divided into two biological varieties: the Flyers and two ground-based builders. The latter created and restored antenna trees, which fed the flying members of the species and which the Megarachnids used to control radioactive storms.
Ultimately, the Megarachnids were defeated by the combined forces of the Emperor's Children, the Luna Wolves, and the Blood Angels. However, the Megarachnids were never completely eradicated due to the intervention of the highly advanced human civilization of the Interex.
