On March 26th, the weather remained cold, but the sun came out and warmed the landscape.
So, I decided to put some Ultra Bee, and AP23 pollen substitute out just in case some foragers made the trip to the feeding station.
This video has an introduction, but after that it's all sounds from the actual video. Super slow motion sound is very interesting. Chickens sound like dinosaurs. Birds Chirping sound like jungle fowl.

HOW TO FREEZE the wings of a flying honey bee - By adjusting your camera video frame rate between 230 and 240 frames per second, you can make your flying honey bees "appear" to barely flap their wings yet remain in flight. The TRUE wing beat frequency of the honey bee is 230 cycles per second, but for some reason that I can't explain, they appear suspended at 240 fps in camera. But, the good news is that you can alter the playback rate in post-production.
AP24, based on some recent lab studies, proved to produce more brood than Mega Bee, or Ultra Bee. The differences may not be significant, but every little bit helps when it comes to brooding up and gathering resources in-between rain events.

NOTE: If your bees are already bringing in loads of pollen, then investing in a pollen sub may not make a meaningful difference in spring build up. BUT, if you have poor environmental resources this spring and want them to have a little boost, dry pollen substitute can certainly help.
