CATV Voltage-Controlled Attenuators at RFMD

RF Micro Devices (RFMD.com), a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance semiconductor technologies and RF systems, offers the new RFSA3013 and RFSA3023. These are fully monolithic analog voltage-controlled attenuators (VCAs) for CATV applications. The VCAs feature exceptional linearity over a 30dB minimum gain control range. The RFSA3013 and RFSA3023 VCAs also boast internal temperature compensation that provides an attenuation profile, highly insensitive to temperature changes. Each VCA is controlled by a single positive control voltage with on-chip DC conditioning circuitry. The slope of the control voltage versus gain is selectable. These VCAs have been characterized for 75Ω CATV applications, over the full attenuation and frequency ranges with no external matching components required. The components are offered in a compact 3mm x 3mm QFN package. These attenuators are used in Cable Modem, CATV, and High Linearity Power Control applications.
