SOPHIE'S MISFORTUNES - EP20 - The Cousins
Panic at Fleurville Castle: Camille has smallpox. The little girls are forbidden from entering her room. It's a highly contagious disease. Sophie, for whom Camille's illness stirs painful memories—her father's illness—argues with Madeleine and Marguerite, who misunderstand and find her indifferent to Camille's misfortune. So, at night, she defies the prohibition and sneaks into Camille's room to leave a drawing she made especially for her. Fortunately, she doesn't catch the disease, unlike poor Elisa, who, through sheer devotion, falls ill herself. Once Elisa is out of danger, a donkey ride is planned. Five donkeys are brought, and Sophie rushes to choose, before the others, the one she believes to be the best. She's having a run of bad luck because her donkey is the slowest and most stubborn. Monsieur de Rugés, Jean, and Léon arrive at the castle to spend the holidays. Jean is clearly delighted to see Sophie again. To thank Elisa for her devotion, the little girls prepare a surprise show, performing a play of their own invention in which Elisa is the heroine. They are a triumph. Sophie steals the show in the role of the heroine.
