The Chalmers Optimist Race
In the festival area at the final destination of the 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race - Gothenburg, Sweden - Chalmers University of Technology built an exhibition with a number of unique optimist dinghies in different materials. One evening, a race was organized betweek the dinghies, with contestants from the VOR Teams.
The materials in the race were: cellulose, polyethylene, graphene, carbon fiber, wood, stainless steel and recycled plastics from electronic waste. Francisco Vignale from the Spanish team MAPFRE triumphed, in the graphene dinghy!
