"Way" (Spelled "Wey", "Buey" or "Güey") is a word Mexicans use all the time. In this video I try to explain how "Buey" morphed into "Wey" and then "Güey", and why this transformation is important if you're learning Spanish.

I cover how the Spanish /b/ phoneme is commonly realized as a voiced bilabial approximant [β], how this approximant [β] can be replaced with [w] in informal speech and why [w] is often reinforced with an initial [ɡ].

In other words, in this video I teach you about Spanish phonetics but I try to make it fun.
