10. Torus - The Kraken
This Ry Legit-esque track is fantastic. When I listen to it, I imagine a monstrous Kraken rapidly destroying a bunch of sea vessels, with the cutscenes rapidly changing to the beat of the music, and each time his tentacle strikes, the video gets all slow motion and such, and you sea random images of sailors trying to jump out of the way of the Kraken.
9. Au5, Auratic, IYFFE - Sweet
The song is insanely crisp. I particularly enjoy the smooth melody in the intro. The part after the drop features some unique sounds that I've never heard before, especially that sweet lick at 1:43.
8. Omnitica - Yo! Ho! And a Bottle of Bass
If Pirates of the Caribbean featured an electronic soundtrack, this song would have to be included. From the epic strings featured throughout to the swashbuckling modulated leads, this track is unique and enjoyable in every way.
7. Savant - Sledgehammer
This song was recommended by a commenter, and when I heard it, I was blown away. The sounds used are fascinating (like the rest of this unbelievably prolific Norwegian producer's sounds) and the melody is super badass and catchy. I highly recommend listening to the full track, especially for the harpsichord intro.
6. Neosignal - Planet Online (Culprate Remix)
As if the original track weren't amazing enough, Culprate had to go and make something even more epic. The gated lead sound, slightly dissonant melody, unbelievably well-defined basslines, and uniqueness as a remix make this one of my favorite songs ever.
5. Dope DOD - What Happened (The Trickaz Remix)
I'm usually not a fan of rap, but this combination of dubstep and rap is an exception. I feel like a total badass just listening to it. The "wobble" bass is perfected in this particular track, and I enjoy the sliced leads that are cleverly mixed in.
4. AK9 - The Anger Games
This song is probably the most rage-filled track I've ever listened to, even more so than Rage (see my previous video). The heavy, crisp distortion, lack of discernible melody, and the somewhat hilarious vocal clip are probably the reasons for this. I simply had to include it in this list.
3. Dodge & Fuski - Substance Abuse (Original Mix)
The dialogue in the intro, followed by the insanely heavy modulated leads, make this track almost comical at first. And as the track proceeds, this theme continues -- in the full song, see the playfully dissonant melody phrase at 1:23. This song is a demented and clever masterpiece of modern brostep.
2. Specimen A - All or Nothing
Dat synth phrase at 7:52 ... I'll be honest, that's the main reason I included this song in the video. The rest of it is pretty awesome, too.
1. Dodge & Fuski - Sucker Punch
When I first heard the drop, my response was "damn, they ARE back." Dodge & Fuski sort of took a hiatus from producing dubstep, and this banger put them back at the top of my list of favorite dubstep producers. The guitar intro and interludes are semi-generic, but the leads sound like they are from another dimension, and that crisp gunshot snare gets me every time. Appropriately, this is another favorite of mine.
