How to Comply with Ray Baum’s Act with Mitel MiVoice Connect
Watch our video to better understand Ray Baum’s Act, which has broad regulations with specific focus in Section 506 on FCC rules regarding enterprise use of multi-line telephone systems (MLTS) to provide 911 call automated dispatchable locations.
The dispatchable information provided to the public safety answering point (PSAP) includes a valid civic address (i.e. your physical address), plus other information such as building, floor, suite, or room number necessary to adequately identify the location of the caller.
The focus of the video is on Mitel MiVoice Connect system changes and steps that administrators must take to ensure your compliance.
We’ll walk you through the steps within your Mitel MiVoice Connect Director to enable Ray Baum. Once this happens, you’ll need to reboot your servers and switches for the change to take effect.
We will also instruct you to use your navigation pane to access your IP Phone Address Map page, and how to add and enter a new MAC address and other relevant information for mapping IP phones. You’ll then configure a call back number.
In most scenarios, including with systems that employ the use of soft phones or a remote/teleworker solution like the Edge Gateway, a third-party vendor will be required to ensure that proper location information for each caller can be routed to the PSAP.
