How to get there:
by car about 1.5 hours;
by train - about an hour, from Penn Station to Croton-Harmon Amtrak Station. To get closer to the park, you can take a taxi from there or hijack as we did).
Croton Gorge Park offers stunning views of the dam and spillway. A trail leads from the park along the old Croton Aqueduct, which delivered water to New York from 1842 to 1955. In the district there are many old houses, two nature reserves and a museum telling about the construction of the Aqueduct.
