Choice and Failure: The Henry Stickmin Collection
I'm a big fan of games that let you choose what happens next, but very few get it right. Henry Stickmin is a franchise I've followed for years, and along with its great sense of humor: it actually lets the player's choices mean more than those made in most choose-your-own-adventure games I've played over the years. So I wanted to break down what makes the game so different, both to those games and to what I've called "experience games."
This video took longer than expected, and while I'm happy with the video: I wish it was another long-form documentary-like for you all to enjoy. But I PROMISE that I'll make more...right after I talk about my top 10 games of 2020.
