Kubuntu 17.04, released in April 2017, was part of the Ubuntu family of Linux distributions. Specifically, Kubuntu is Ubuntu's official variant that uses the KDE Plasma desktop environment as its primary graphical user interface. Kubuntu 17.04 featured the KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, which offers a modern and customizable user interface. KDE Plasma is known for its visual appeal, flexibility, and extensive configurability. Like all Ubuntu flavors, Kubuntu 17.04 was built upon the same Ubuntu base, which means it inherited the same package management system (APT), software repositories, and underlying system components. Kubuntu 17.04 included a variety of pre-installed applications for everyday use, such as the LibreOffice suite for office productivity, Firefox web browser, and various multimedia applications for music and video playback. The system requirements for Kubuntu 17.04 were similar to those of other modern Linux distributions.
