Stan Ridgway - Salesman
From the "Wall of Voodoo" Stan branched out solo. He sold ok in Australia but his music was a bit esoteric for the US. Not easy songs, certainly not FM Radio format friendly. I loved his stuff.
BTW, Compare "Mexican Radio" to "Far Side of Crazy". Wall of Voodoo survived losing their frontman, Andy Prieboy replaced Stan, to record that, quite an achievement, at least in Australia it was.
