The Leonid meteor shower is annual astronomical event that occurs in the middle of November when the Earth passes through the trail of dust shed from the comet Tempel-Tuttle.

But why is it called the Leonid Meteor Shower? Great question! It is named for its radiant point - the point from which the meteors seem to originate in the sky - which falls in the constellation Leo.

Join Jim, our space science director, as he takes you on a short tour of the Leonid Meteor Shower and the night sky.
