Delirium tremens, squirrel, squirrel, beluga... You've probably heard these words, but does everyone know what they actually mean? Delirium tremens, or alcoholic delirium, is a condition that can occur during alcohol withdrawal in an addict. Hallucinations, delusions, attempts to kill or save others, chills, and high fever—delirium tremens can manifest in all of these ways. We spoke with Dmitry, a former alcoholic, who shared his own experiences with alcoholic delirium, as well as with psychiatrist and addiction specialist Ilya Kisler, who shared some truly terrifying stories from his practice.
