Today I want to share a story that undoubtedly deserves to be remembered by all of us who have worn and continue to wear the green twill uniform of the Legion. It is the tale of a company that, for years, forged a legacy of courage and brotherhood that lives on. I'm talking about the 2nd Company of the 4th Battalion, known as "La Referencia" (The Reference), a unit that earned its name through sheer hard work and became an example for all.

In this video, Corporal Santulario, a veteran Legionary Knight, immerses us in the history of this group of men. Legionary Knights who, with their spirit of sacrifice, unity, resilience, and unwavering dedication, elevated the prestige of the Spanish Legion, always following the principles of our founder, Millán Astray, and walking "the path of the knights."

From its beginnings, back in 1996 under the command of Captain Pasamar, and later, consolidating in 1998 with Captain Camacho Molina, "La Referencia" became a bastion of courage. Corporal Santulario shares the names of some of the men who shaped this unit, from lieutenants, brigadiers, sergeants, and corporals, to those legionnaires—both conscripts and career soldiers—who made this company their home. Through this tribute, we remember those who still serve, exemplifying what it means to be a legionnaire, and those who remain in our memories.

Santulario also invites us to reflect on the legacy left by these giants, urging us to keep the flame of the 2nd Company alive, to continue working with pride, heads held high, carrying on the legacy of those who gave everything for this Tercio. Because, as he himself says, "If we were once great, it was because we stood on the shoulders of giants."

Here is the video.
