Last time I touched Django Channels was in the spring of 2020. Writernaut has a use case for it, specifically alerting users when builds and other tasks are complete. So this codecast was partly on relearning Django Channels and also trying out an architecture I've been thinking about.

My problem with Channels is that it can provide a view into data, but Consumers are separate from Views. What if we combined them? I'm not certain about the result, especially as what I'm trying to do is simple. I'm not certain this is a good approach on anything with complexity. But it was fun to try it out!

Also, I didn't set up true publishing, rather opening and closing the websocket every ten seconds. That will be corrected in an upcoming Codecast.
