OYet another fun experiment using the videocopilot (.net) "Element 3D" plugin for After Effects. I downloaded a free model of the Dalek and modified it so that it was more modular (e.g. separated the balls so they act as joints), then created special shapes that enabled 'anchor points' to be correct for the animation. In order to move (rotate) the 'eye stalk' up and down (not seen in this movie), it has to be separate from the dome, which is a problem because it has to be 'parented' to the dome, and there is no way (apart from complex expressions, perhaps) to do this with the plugin. I do have a version of with eye stalk separate from the dome so that the eye can rotate, but then the dome cannot rotate. Oh, and that is my voice, Dalek-ified using filtration in Audacity.
