Hello everyone!
This video is specially designed for students preparing for the Elementary (Object Drawing) and Intermediate (Still Life) Drawing Grade Exams. 🌿
In this tutorial, we will learn step by step how to draw and render a cabbage, one of the most commonly given vegetables in exams (along with onion, tomato, pumpkin slice, capsicum, etc.).
🕒 Exam Tips:
The exam duration is 3 hours.
You usually get 3 to 5 objects to draw.
Manage your time smartly:
10–15 min → Planning & Composition
30–40 min → Outline & Proportions
1.5 hrs → Coloring & Shading
20–30 min → Detailing & Finishing
📝 What you’ll learn in this video:
Base Structure – Start with a simple circle and add basic leaf outlines.
3D Dimension – Split the cabbage into highlight, light, half tone, dark tone, reflected light, and cast shadow.
Coloring & Shading – Use the right colors for each part:
Highlight: Lemon Yellow, Yellow Green
Light Area: Yellow Green, Light Green, Leaf Green
Half Tone: Leaf Green, Olive Green, Dark Olive Green
Dark Tone: Dark Olive Green, Deep Green ,Reflected Light: Gray Green
Cast Shadow: Dark Brown, Dark Gray, Light Gray
✨ Pro tip: Use blending stumps or earbuds for smooth surface finish.
Leaf Detailing – Add soft leaf lines, veins, and fresh light green on borders to keep the natural freshness of the vegetable.
This step-by-step method will not only help you in exams but also improve your overall drawing and shading skills.
💡 My best wishes to all students for their Drawing Grade Exams! Keep practicing and stay confident.
