Marshall Gilkes & WDR BIG BAND - Longing For Home
The WDR BIG BAND plays "Longing For Home," a composition by Marshall Gilkes, who also leads the WDR BIG BAND. Solos are played by John Goldsby on bass and Ben Fitzpatrick on tenor saxophone. Recorded as part of the concert "Fresh Start" at WDR JAZZCLUB / Cologne in November 2022.
From 2010 to 2014 Marshall Gilkes was a member of the WDR Big Band, since then he comes to Cologne again and again with new material. With "Fresh Start" he reports back as trombonist, composer and bandleader: "A lot of the music I write these days is inspired by people and places, especially my two kids."
