a farmer boy, who had no food, no clothes, or any education but later became the richest man in South Korea. He didn’t just change his cycle of poverty but the lives of millions of Koreans. This is the story of Chug Ju Yung, the founder of Hyundai,4th largest motor company. Chang Ju Yung was born in a very small village in South Korea in 1915. He was the eldest of his 7 siblings. His father was so poor that they hardly could manage food for one proper meal.
Chang Ju Yung had to work 12 to 17 hours a day as a kid just to have that one meal. And the day he could not work, he would have to sleep on an empty stomach. Yung hated that situation, he wanted to change his life, he wanted to do something in life but he could not find any way out. just as he was losing his hope,
At the age of 16, one day he was visiting a nearby city to sell some firewood, there he noticed the situation in that place was significantly better than in his village.
The people had good clothes and food and there was more work to do other than just farming. After seeing all of those, he decided he had enough. He was not going to suffer anymore. He decided to run away from his father's house.
In 1932, he and one of his friends finally escaped from home. At midnight, they walked mile after mile on the dangerous roads of North Korea.
After walking 8200 miles, finally they reached a small town named Goan City. There he started working as a construction worker. He had to work all day and until late at night with a very low pay.
But still, he was happy cause at last he was earning independently and he was having food to fill his stomach. But the scene at his father's house was different.
His father was looking for him desperately everywhere.
