I also decided to recast Rarity since I thought Sayaka fit better.
Since at the beginning of the series Rarity has two focuses, her friends and her status, and a good amount of the time they clash.
And that's basically what happens with Sayaka.
Both Sayaka and Rarity work hard to be known in society as well as doing it with their friends.
When both are threatened, both Sayaka and Rarity start to panic.
It also works with Makoto as Spike, since Spike's crush on Rarity is similar to Makoto's crush on Sayaka.
