This week's adventure is all about road-tripping from Austin to Dallas Texas.
We're going to stop in West Texas, the beginning of the Kolache Trail. Then we're going to the Roadside America museum and wrapping it up with a behind-the-scenes tour of The Texas State Fair. With my all-access pass, we're going to meet some of the longest-running food vendors and hear their history.
West, Texas
Is located approximately 70 miles south of Dallas - Fort Worth and has one of the largest Czech populations in the State of Texas. Hence, it is also nicknamed the Kolache trail.
Roadside America Museum
Is by appointment only and is definitely worth a stop if you're road tripping. From jukeboxes to neon signs, this quirky gallery is filled with memorabilia from the 1940s-1950s, an award-winning car collection, and spooky, literally, dug-up relic you're not allowed to photograph!
State Fair of Texas
This is Texas and COVID-19 has nothing on the spirit of the fair. This year it is a progressive drive-thru experience and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to capture a socially distanced picture of Big Tex himself sporting his new mask. If you're single and looking for love it may be found at the fair!
Sweet Connie's will share with you an amazing love story that has continued for 3 generations! Plus I try to eat a legendary Fletcher's Corney Dog in one bite!
