🧪 What is the Gray Scott reaction?
In this short video presenting the 2025 edition of the school, Pierre Aubert introduces the Gray Scott reaction – a fascinating chemical model that gives rise to complex and beautiful patterns.
Why does it matter?
Because this reaction is the core theme and thread running through the entire Gray Scott School. All the methods during the school are illustrated on simple examples, such as Hadamard products, reductions, barycentre calculations and matrix products, in order to be applied to this single problem: the simulation of a Gray Scott reaction.
This problem is simple enough to be understood quickly and complex enough for compilers to have difficulty optimising it without help.
