"I've had a stalker in my life. We met at a party, he walked me home, and that's when it all started. At first, he tried to make advances. I politely declined. Then he became aggressive. He came to my house with a knife. He broke the window and tried to break in. I managed to escape. At the police station, the investigator tried to persuade me not to file a report. She sympathetically said, "He loves you and did it out of desperation." They rejected the report, saying there was no criminal offense.
I often encounter such stories while working on videos. Neither direct conversation, nor intimidation, nor extreme measures like changing one's name, moving, or getting new SIM cards help. Currently, there is no law against stalking. Victims are not protected by law until something terrible happens: from physical violence to murder.
